Angelim Pedra

At one time or another, everyone imagines being rich. Even the rich imagine being richer. So it’s no wonder that when early Portuguese and Spanish explorers heard legends of a hidden city of gold, they were more than mildly interested.
Legends of abundant South American gold actually got started when Columbus convinced investors that precious metals and spices would be his for the taking. Later, El Dorado, the mythical City of Gold, was sought by countless conquistadors exploring the Amazon River and rainforest. They faced mosquitoes, tropical diseases, frightening animals, and antagonistic Indians. Many died. All were defeated.
We had it easier. Of course, we were never looking for the legendary City of Gold. We were just looking for gold. And we found it in a tree called Angelim Pedra. This is becoming one of our more popular exotic woods, partially because of its color. When new, the heartwood is a rich golden color. Then, as it ages, it usually turns into a lovely golden brown.
Angelim Pedra flooring:
ANGELIM PEDRA is a very attractive, fairly hard exotic wood that’s easy to work. Angelim is stable and long-lasting with a distinctive marbling effect and unique grain characteristics. Freshly cut, the heartwood is yellow; when exposed to daylight over several months, Angelim turns medium brown, or occasionally dark-brown. The coarse grain has a long fiber that can be straight or interlocked; the luster is low to medium.
